Game On Expo 2018 (Review)

  •

Welcome back Ugeeks to Game On Expo 2018, this year was a pretty spectacular event and some. Let's walkthrough and experience what this convention has for you. So if you don't know what Game On Expo is then here it is. "Game On Expo is a multimedia gaming convention that began in August 2015 and is the largest gaming convention in Arizona. It covers all types of gaming from video games and arcades to board games and tabletop games. The expo boasts a large vendor hall, video game lounge area, free-play arcades, tournaments (both video and card games), cosplay contests, panels, and a variety of special guests."

So as you walk into Game Onyou'ree greeted to security checking to make sure no one is bringing in any weapons. They were respectful and courteous to our needs and only took a minute or so. After that, we got our media badges so we can continue inside. 8-bit video game music was playing in this hall while we waited to get our passes. This was a nice touch to add to the ambiance of the con. After receiving our passes we continued inside where the vendor hall opened up and you saw arcade machines, vendors, and cosplayers all over.

The cosplayers were in full effect and the attention to detail was defiantly there. There was a good amount of arcade machines and pinball machines to play. This is what I like about Game On Expo, there is more to do than just walk around and see vendors and guest. This event is great for a full family to enjoy and have fun in different areas. Most cons have the usual but Game On steps it up and brings all forms of entertainment to the mass. It's a relief to see a con bring all this under one roof for all ages.

So one of the first things I did was interview a pro pinball player by the name Jack Danger. They reached out to us and Jack and his pinball streaming channel on Twitch. I was so surprised to see that this was a real thing. Jack Danger was a delight to talk to and we found out a lot about pinball and how Jack geeks out. Check out the interview below and let make sure to follow and support Mr. Danger and his ventures.

After talking to Mr. Danger we went to talk to our good pal Nico from Super Madnes Metal Band. Last year we interviewed Nico and found out about his love for metal and retro gaming. And how he combined his love for both into an awesome band called Super Madnes. Check out our interview with him and find out what is new within the world of Super Madnes. And make sure to support this awesome metal geek below.

So after talking to Nico, we went to talk to our good friend Sergio Elisondo from Sergio and the Holograms. Now Sergio is a musical genius when it comes to making music and entertainment. He brings a full on youtube performance to the stage. It was amazing to see and experience for the first time. This musical geek has it all and some when it comes to composing music. His love for retro gaming has brought an ingenious way to experience music visually and listening to the crisp sounds of 8-bit love. Check out our interview below and support this amazing geek.

And finally, we got to talk to the infamous hip-hop artist Mega Ran. Mega Ran brings 8-bit and hip-hop together to make a unique sound with amazing lyrics. For about 6 years Mega Ran has been professionally rapping and bringing love and entertainment to his peeps. As a former teacher, Mega Ran speaks from the heart and his lyrics and theatrics bring the crowd together for a hyped up show that you will never forget. Check out our interview with Mega Ran below and make sure to support and show him, love.

Game On Expo is a wonderful experience for gamers and families. This event is still one of my favorites out of all conventions within the gaming world. It's in the heart of Phoenix so its centralized for all to come and parking is moderately priced and the ambiance of the con is well done. The only gripe I have is the same gripe that I had last year. The convention does a great job of lighting up the vendors and arcade machines. And the gaming area is dimmed down for effect and gameplay purposes. But the stage for the musicians is too bright for it to have a lasting effect on its guest. They need to work on putting a stage in an area that has stopping power for guest to go wow look at that. There was a moment when Super Madnes was playing and the lights turned down and omg was the theatrics so much better. And I could see for Sergio and the Holograms it would be beneficial for his holograms to be seen at a higher crisper rate. Other than that this event is near perfection in my opinion and I hope it stays this way for years to come. Game On Expo is a must go for all geeks and gamers, I totally recommend it for all. Thank you to all the Ugeeks that helped make this possible and like always keep on geeking on.
