Powers Season 2 (Review)

  •

So I finally made time to watch Powers season 2 because I was sick and bored one week. I have seen season 1 and I was indifferent about it. So I thought maybe it gets better. Well to my disappointment I was wrong. So let me tell you a little about Powers the show on PlayStation before I get ahead of myself.

Powers is an American online streaming series adaptation of the Powers comic book series published by Marvel Comics under their Icon Comics imprint. The PlayStation Network's first scripted original programming, the series premiered on March 10, 2015. The first two episodes of the series were written by Charlie Huston and directed by David Slade. The first three episodes, (the third directed by David Petrarca), were released on March 10, 2015, on the PlayStation Network. The pilot episode is available for free for people in the USA on YouTube and the entire first season was available on Crackle until May 3, 2016. On May 6, 2015,Powers was renewed for a second season, which premiered on May 31, 2016. It was announced on August 3, 2016, that Powers had been cancelled.

In a world where humans and superheroes called "Powers" co-exist, a former Power, Christian Walker, has reinvented himself as a homicide detective after his own powers were taken from him. He and his partner Deena Pilgrim work in a special police department called Powers Division, which investigates crimes involving superhumans, who are at once crimefighting heroes and pop celebrities managed by specialized advertising agencies.

    Rated 2 - 10

So now that you know a little bit about Powers let me tell you why you should pass on it. I'll start with the acting and script. The story in Powers never draws you in at all. I felt nothing the characters and the bad acting didn't help. The story is corny and never flows properly to make you believe the world of Powers even exists. I felt so disconnected from the story and characters I couldn't even stay awake. Then the costume and wardrobe design was trying too hard and looked terrible. I've seen beginner cosplayers make better costumes then this show. I really wanted to like it because it did have potential to be decent. But nothing comes together right. The show is so scatter brained you feel lost and bored. Unfortunately for this UGeek, this is a must pass unless your bored and have nothing else to do other than cringe and cry tears of confusion. I'll leave a trailer below if interested.
